Abstract
Propose : This study was aimed at analyzing the actual condition of wearing progressive addition lens in accordance with the occupations and presbyopia refractive state.

Methods : Intended for the presbyopia aged 40 to 70, who visited the opticial shops located in Bucheon and Seoul from January to December 2008, wearing progressive addition lens, without senile eye disorder or physical diseases. After checking their distance refractive error, any possible refractive error was completely corrected, and the near addition was measured at the habitual near distance.

Results : The age and the size of addition had a significant difference(p = 0.001), and the size of addition according to the occupations showed a significant difference (p = 0.001). For the ratio of wearing progressive addition lens according to the occupations, housewives were 46.1%, followed by office workers 24.1% and public officials 13.0%. For the ratio of wearing progressive addition lens according to the refractive state, emmetropia 18.4%, astigmatism with the rule 7.8%, astigmatism against the rule 35.8%, oblique astigmatism 17.8%, and simple refractive error 20.2%, which meant astigmatism against the rule showed the highest ratio of wearing progressive addition lens.

Conclusion : Among the presbyopia wearing progressive addition lens, housewives and office workers (including the public officials) covered a significant ratio, and in the refractive state, emmetropia and astigmatism against the rule showed higher ratio of wearing.
